See, the luck I've had can make a good man turn bad

Wednesday
I went to the Police station to get the final update on the investigation into WPKAW's death. Their file has been passed to the Crown Prosecution Service. I can't go into details for legal reasons. It could prejudice any case if it got out. I saw the photos of the accident scene from that morning. I asked to see them. I also got each of the witness statements (direct and indirect). I was there for nearly two hours in the end. Was pretty raw afterwards. Not depressed. After so long (5 months this weekend), most of the time I spend numb. But I still cry most days for one reason or another. Not very day though. Sometimes I may have two successive days that I don't cry.

I went out for dinner in Crouch End with the midgets that night and drank 3 beers. That didn't help much.

Thursday
Met up with two old cow-orkers at Gaucho Piccadilly. Not seen them for a couple of years. We used to go to Gaucho quite often. It was where I actually took WPKAW for our very first date.

I managed to leave my scarf in a very busy, swanky bar afterwards. This was THE scarf that WPKAW had given me. I called them and told them the significance so they went and found it. When I went in the next day, the staff couldn't find it in the lost property stores. They eventually found it. It had been put into the safe in the managers office. It's the first time I've used WKPAW's death to get someone to do something. In this case it was justified.

Friday night:
Watched Platoon on TV
Backed up WPKAW's laptop

Saturday

  • Re-installed WPKAW's laptop so that her parents can have it. Their old one that WPKAW had given them is ten years old and is too slow for what they use it for now.
  • Put all of WPKAW's toiletries, make-up and hair stuff into the loft along with some duvet covers and blankets. That was the landing cleared again.
  • Cleared out a chest on the front room that stored a mix of toys and WPKAW's gym equipment. That's the landing full again.
  • I worked out playing tennis and boxing on the Wii. Using wrist weights. I still ache.
  • Watched a couple of football matches on Sky/Setanta
  • Did three loads of washing
  • Watched some film I can't recall now
  • Watched MotD (Match of the Day).
Sunday
  • Spent a few hours (4 or 5) reading a new book to WPKAW, A Thousand Splendid Suns. The follow up to The Kite Runner which she had read last year.
  • Went out down the shops. Found some parmigiana at the butchers. Our local Tesco Metro and Iceland stores don't stock it. Also bought some cleaning products for the cleaner.
  • Raked up the leaves from the back garden. Found a large dead rat on the lawn.
  • Watched Hoodwinked and Steven Fry's America program on the TV
  • Brushed George
  • Watched MotD2
Ended up not seeing TWEG at all. A week ago she'd suggested we do something for the weekend. That got scaled down to she'd phone me on Saturday evening to arrange something. In the end she disappeared into her cave and I didn't hear from her at all. I wasn't actually surprised.

There's stuff I need to do that I keep putting off:

  • Clearing the kitchen cupboards of all stuff that only WPKAW used and stuff that will be out of date
  • Mending the fence in the back garden
  • Putting the garden furniture under covers (needs to be dry for that)
  • Get WPKAW's parents to give me a letter for the probate service
  • Talk to another trust lawyer. MenCap has recommended someone else and said that I do actually need to use a lawyer.
  • Visit WPKAW's mum & dad and see where SoWPKAW spends her days
  • Redecorate the kitchen, MajorMidget's room and my room
  • Christmas shopping

if you want to box someone in Wii boxing, I'm assuming you would need two remotes and two nunchuks?

I'm very self-conscious about drinking in front of my kid. Don't know how others can do it.

Is drinking alcohol evil? MajorMidget has a wine or a beer now and again. Not on school nights though.
