I used to be hopeful.  I used to look on the bright side.  Now ELO's eternally chipper lyrics provoke nothing but a sneer.  How did I become so ... sour?  Sure, I enjoy life, but not to the degree that I can ignore the fact that people around me seem ever more keen to fuck me over and are likely to do so at any given moment.  Maybe it's age.  Maybe it's a phase.  Hell, maybe it's just been there all along, a seed in my personality waiting for me to meet the consummate asshole to help it germinate.  Who knows.  Whatever the case, I can honestly say I've lost my naivety.  Good riddance.
